Opportunities, risks, limits and how to overcome them: our personal experiences during the Covid19 crisis. March 2020: three months lockdown. A completely new word for us. The island goes quiet, people move apart spatially, but also closer together in a great willingness to help, and the world seems to stand still, apart from the evening rounds of applause for health workers. The negative consequences of the Corona pandemic were and are primarily of a health and economic nature. Paradoxically, however, there was also something of an exhalation during this difficult phase: for suddenly there was a break for all who needed it. For families, friends, partners, nature.
Like everything else, the event industry came to a standstill. Long-planned weddings had to be postponed or cancelled, round birthdays and also group events on the Balearic Islands shared the same fate. Every country where tourism plays such a prominent role as in Spain has felt the economic consequences. Many companies and small entrepreneurs could not hold on, others are still struggling. The Balearic Islands occupied a special position during the crisis, at least for a time – while the lockdown hit them hard at the beginning, Mallorca took on a pioneering role in tourism in the summer of 2020. Cautiously, the island opened up to holidaymakers. In a unique feat of strength, hygiene concepts were put in place to make a safe holiday on the island possible. In fact, there was a tentative and ultimately deceptive upswing during the summer holidays – after a few weeks, the experiment was over again, also because of rising infection figures in the sending countries.
For weeks and months, the islands struggled for low incidences and the trust of the travel industry. When the classification as a risk area was finally lifted on the German side, in spring 2021, life came into the industry. At Easter time, many regained hope and confidence was more present than ever, alongside the restrictions that have become commonplace.
We can tell you that these ups and downs have also cost us nerves. But we are still standing, and we can hardly wait to come back. We have been through this crisis together, and are eager to finally be able to organise events in Mallorca & Ibiza again. We are proud of our team who have remained so persistent and optimistic, and we are grateful that our clients remain loyal to us. We are confident that with the Implementation progress and well coordinated hygiene concepts, it will again be possible to organise events on Ibiza, Mallorca and the Spanish mainland – with respect for the islanders, the clients and ourselves. Now we are not only planning the perfect event for you, but also a safe handling of Covid-19 in compliance with the respective local regulations, be it compulsory testing or masking and social distancing. We are in the middle of this and we all know that it might still be a long way to go, which requires a lot of perseverance. Our breath will last for a long time and we want to take off with even more power than ever!
What have we been doing during this time? Our team doesn’t let itself get down, each individual has rediscovered himself and his surroundings, be it in sports, art or grounding in nature. From this new energy we draw our creativity, underline our know-how and develop further, together and stronger than ever.
